The Kazakh company Logistic Centre has signed an agreement with the Uzbek state enterprise Navoiuran to transport uranium concentrate from Uzbekistan to France, Kun.uz reports, citing data from the Uzbek Commodity Exchange.
Under the contract, Kazakhstan will ship 500 containers of Uzbek uranium through the port of St. Petersburg to Malvési, a commune in southern France.
The contract is valued at €9 million, with deliveries set to be completed by the second quarter of 2026.
The transportation of uranium must comply with strict international safety standards established by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Navoiuran has collaborated with the French corporation Orano since its inception. The company was founded in January 2022 following the transformation of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC). In 2023, Orano announced plans to invest up to $500 million in uranium mining and processing in Uzbekistan.
Navoiuran ranks fifth in the world in uranium production, accounting for 7 percent of global output—more than 3,800 metric tons. The state-owned enterprise operates 21 uranium deposits and plans to develop six more mines by 2026. The final product, uranium oxide concentrate, is supplied not only to Orano but also to companies such as ConverDyn (U.S.), Cameco (Canada), DAE India, and several other major processing enterprises.
