A criminal case has been opened following the gas explosion at the «Ahmadali Khoji» Mosque in the Izboskan district of Andijan region, which resulted in three deaths. The regional prosecutor's office announced this via its Telegram channel.
Officials have launched an investigation under two articles of the Criminal Code: Article 205 (“Abuse of Power or Official Authority”) and Article 259 (“Violation of Fire Safety Regulations”).
Law enforcement agencies continue to conduct investigative operations, examining the circumstances of the incident. Meanwhile, a government commission led by Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov is working at the scene to determine the cause of the explosion and provide assistance to the victims' families.
Authorities have also released a preliminary cause of the explosion. According to initial findings, a natural gas leak occurred in the basement due to faulty piping connected to heating appliances. Gas accumulated in the room, and when the electricity was turned on, it ignited, triggering the explosion.
The incident at the «Ahmadali Khoji» Mosque occurred on March 31, leaving three dead and ten others injured. The investigation is ongoing.
