Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the fifth International Industrial Exhibition «INNOPROM. Central Asia,» which opened on April 28 in Tashkent. During the event, he held a series of meetings, including talks with members of the Russian delegation, according to his press service.
Among the meetings was a discussion between Mirziyoyev and First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov. The two sides reviewed the practical implementation of agreements reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Uzbekistan in May last year. They also noted the continued growth in bilateral trade and progress on major joint projects, including initiatives under regional cooperation frameworks.
Mirziyoyev also met with Rustam Minnikhanov, head of the Republic of Tatarstan, to discuss expanding industrial cooperation between leading enterprises and boosting humanitarian exchanges. The Uzbek president’s press service stated that the parties agreed to maintain intensive contacts and advance joint projects in the oil and gas, chemical, transportation, tourism, and other sectors.
On the sidelines of INNOPROM, Mirziyoyev also held talks with Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian state corporation Rosatom. They highlighted the growing partnership in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, with a focus on applying nuclear technologies in agriculture and healthcare, as well as training specialists at the Tashkent branch of MEPhI (National Research Nuclear University).
Additionally, as reported by TASS, Likhachev announced that Tashkent and Moscow have resolved all legal issues related to the construction of a small modular nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
“We now move into our regular work: detailing the project, licensing, and, I hope, laying the first concrete within a year, if not sooner,” Likhachev said.
The president’s press service noted that INNOPROM is taking place at the new Central Asia Expo Uzbekistan (CAEx) exhibition center, covering more than 18,000 square meters. Over 10,000 delegates from Central Asia, Russia, China, India, and other countries are participating. This year's exhibition features technological solutions, modern equipment, and finished products from leading companies in the mechanical engineering, electrical, metallurgical, chemical, transportation, construction, IT, and other industries.
The International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM. Central Asia is a key event for trade and industrial cooperation in the region, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and industry associations from various countries. Its main goal is to expand collaboration and foster new partnerships between Uzbekistan’s industrial sector and foreign partners. This year's event runs from April 28 to 30 at the new CAEx Uzbekistan business arena in Tashkent.
