Uzbekistan’s Center of Islamic Civilization (CIC) is preparing a new interactive exhibition for children, the organization’s press service has announced.
The project, commissioned by the Center and led by Salim Ahmad, head of the UK-based organization 1001 Inventions, aims to spark young people’s interest in books, discoveries, and the legacy of scholars through modern technology and animation.
Ahmad presented his work at a recent meeting of the CIC leadership, attended by Firdaus Abdukhalikov, chair of the scientific council and head of the Center.
According to the project concept, the first exhibition space will be decorated in the colors of the Uzbek flag and will feature a metal book with a laser beam. The book’s lighting will interact with a screen to bring historical scenes from its pages to life. Visitors will be introduced to both the childhood and adult personas of Abu Rayhan al-Biruni and Muhammad al-Khwarizmi.
Ahmad noted that leading companies from the United Kingdom and Germany are producing the exhibits. Eighty percent of them have already arrived in Uzbekistan, with the remainder due by the end of August.
The Center of Islamic Civilization is a project initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of his vision of promoting an enlightened Islam as a religion of goodness, peace, and tolerance. The building houses a museum, and its opening is scheduled for late August 2025.
