On September 26–27, Tashkent will host the forum “Heritage of a Great Past — Foundation for an Enlightened Future,” with the participation of members of the International Expert Council of the Center for Islamic Civilization, the Center’s press service reports.

The forum is organized at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyeva and will serve as a key stage in shaping the concept of the Center for Islamic Civilization — a megaproject implemented under the President’s guidance.

The forum will operate through ten thematic sections, each dedicated to a core area of the Center’s work: the Hall of the Holy Quran, pre-Islamic civilizations, the history of Islam’s spread, science and education during the First and Second Renaissance eras, the khanate period, the library, the museum, collections of artifacts and manuscripts, and the creation of an international platform for joint projects.

Over two hundred specialists from Uzbekistan and abroad are participating in the discussions, including representatives from IRCICA, the World Islamic League, TURKSOY, national libraries and archives, the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Oxford University, Christie’s, and other leading institutions.

The forum is practical in nature: participants will discuss the final details of forming the museum exhibition, scientific and educational projects of the Center, new approaches to digitizing collections, and the use of multimedia technologies. The program includes signing memorandums of cooperation, adopting the forum’s final declaration, and a ceremonial handover of artifacts to the Center for Islamic Civilization.

It is expected that the forum will produce concrete recommendations for the Center’s further development, outline plans for international exhibitions, and propose research and digital projects.

The Center for Islamic Civilization is located in Tashkent near the Khast-Imam complex. The building is designed in the style of medieval architectural monuments, with four portals each 34 meters high and a central dome 65 meters high. The Center houses a Hall of the Quran, a conference hall for 460 people, and a museum whose exhibitions cover the entire history of Uzbekistan, from pre-Islamic times to the present day. The CIC is intended to be a platform for studying the heritage of ancestors and its contemporary interpretation, in collaboration with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and scientific and educational centers worldwide.
