Civil activist Tilekmat Kurinov was detained in the UAE and brought to Bishkek, where on April 21, the court chose to place him under arrest until May 19. This was reported by 24.kg referring to the press service of the First May District Court in the Kyrgyz capital.

Kurinov is suspected of committing a crime under Article 327 («Public Calls for Violent Seizure of Power») of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the State Committee for National Security, «While being outside the country, the activist regularly posted provocative posts and video appeals through his social media accounts, calling for the organization of mass riots and subsequent attempts to seize power by force.» Kurinov was detained on April 19.

Previously, after Kurinov’s letter was posted on social media, human rights activist Rita Karasartova was arrested. The letter, written by Kurinov in advance, was dedicated to his family. He had asked the human rights activist to publish it if anything were to happen to him. According to the activist's relatives, he went missing in Dubai on April 10, after which Karasartova posted the letter on her Facebook page (which is banned in Russia and owned by Meta, a corporation recognized as extremist in Russia). On April 14, security forces conducted a search of Karasartova's home, after which she was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility (IVS). Later, the Sverdlovsk District Court of Bishkek decided to place her in a detention center (SIZO) until May 12.
