Chinese company Shandong Aipurui Steel Plate plans to build a metal processing plant in Uzbekistan’s Fergana Region. The project is valued at $120 million, according to the regional administration’s press service.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Fergana regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov and company head Han Zong Bai. The facility will be located in the Tarakkiyot industrial zone of the Tashlak District.
Construction of the steel plant will take place in three stages, with the first phase scheduled to launch in October of this year. The Chinese investors told local officials the plant will be equipped with modern machinery and innovative technologies. The project is expected to create 500 jobs.
The investor also pledged to produce high-quality, competitive goods made from recycled metal, aimed at both the Uzbek domestic market and for export.
Bozorov noted that the project is progressing at an accelerated pace, with not only production facilities under construction but also spaces intended for hosting business forums. He added that a green zone will be developed around the plant, in line with the national “Yashil Makon” (“Green Space”) program.
According to Uzbek media, Shandong Corporation already has a history of cooperation with authorities in the Fergana Region. Various divisions of the company are currently involved in constructing a building materials plant and a center for assembling and servicing cotton-picking machines, as well as training local operators.
