Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has launched an Asian Initiative on Technological Trust and the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence. It calls for a regional expert platform where specialists could develop common recommendations and rules. The Uzbek leader made the proposal at the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, the head of state's press service reported.

Mirziyoyev noted that artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing everyday life and opening up boundless opportunities. At the same time, «smart» technologies pose significant risks.

«We must do everything we can to ensure that digital progress benefits all countries and that gaps in technological development narrow,» the Uzbek president said.

In this regard, he proposed establishing an expert community on the responsible use of AI under the auspices of CICA.

In his speech, Mirziyoyev drew attention to several other key issues. He said armed conflicts in various parts of Asia are of particular concern. Their consequences extend far beyond the conflict zones, threatening the security of entire regions, harming the global economy and affecting the lives of millions of people.

The president urged fellow CICA members to prevent further escalation and to resolve any disputes exclusively by peaceful means, through political and diplomatic channels, on the basis of international law and with the interests of all parties in mind.

He underscored the special role of the conference in building a sustainable system of relations based on transparent actions and the fulfillment of all commitments. In this connection, Mirziyoyev proposed drafting a Concept for Building Trust Infrastructure in Asia. In the Uzbek leader's view, the document should set out key priorities and specific measures to improve connectivity and expand cooperation among states.

He also highlighted the importance of other initiatives, including joint transport and energy projects, trade, digital links, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. To unite the efforts of CICA countries in tackling environmental problems, he floated the idea of creating a Climate Resilience Partnership.
